KINGSTON, Jamaica: India bowled out West Indies for 173 to take a first-innings lead of 73 into tea on the second day of the opening cricket Test at Sabina Park Tuesday. The new ball pair of Ishant Sharma (3-29) and Praveen Kumar (3-38) ran through the top order before spinners Harbhajan Singh (2-51) and Amit Mishra (2-51) polished off the lower batsmen. Opener Adrian Barath provided the main resistance with a sparkling 64, while wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh contributed 27 and veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul 23. Chanderpaul and Baugh revived the hosts when they resumed at 119-5 after lunch. The pair carried their sixth-wicket stand to 45 before Harbhajan made the crucial breakthrough when Baugh was caught off pad and bat by silly point. The right-hander hit two fours and a six off 35 balls. Captain Darren Sammy fell one run later when he tried to whip Sharma through the leg side and was bowled off his pads. Harbhajan also claimed Chanderpaul, who spent 105 minutes compiling 23 off 75 balls. The left-hander deflected to short leg off bat and pad at 152-8. Ravi Rampaul (14 not out) tried to rally the tail but Mishra wrapped up the innings with the wickets of Fidel Edwards (7) and Devendra Bishoo (4) in three balls. Edwards tried to cut a googly and edged to Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind the stumps while Bishoo picked out midwicket with a pull. Edwards relishing return Fidel Edwards earlier said he was thrilled about making his international comeback at Sabina Park, after helping West Indies to bowl India out in the first innings. The West Indies fast bowler had been sidelined for the last two years with a career-threatening back injury, and was the preferred choice to form the new-ball attack with Ravi Rampaul ahead of compatriot Kemar Roach. Edwards had fond memories of the ground, having taken five wickets on his debut five years ago against Sri Lanka, and he relished the chance to start the “second coming” of his international career on the ground. “It was a good feeling to get back onto the field and doing so well, after not playing for so long, so it was a good start for me,” said Edwards, the pick of the West Indies bowlers with four for 56 in India's first innings total of 246.
