500 Filipino expatriates and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from all walks of life, who are volunteers and active members of the Computer Society of Filipinos International (COMSOFIL), successfully participated and competed in the annual IT Olympics competition, held at the Elite International School in Riyadh. This year's IT Olympic participants were all the “cream of the crop” from 44 cluster courses, which were divided into five challenging teams: White, Blue, Yellow, Red and Orange. The annual competition showcased the Filipino community's knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), gleaned during the three-month long intensive seminars and hands-on training acquired through COMSOFIL. The overall champion and undefeated Blue team garnered a total of five gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Sharing some of the glory was the White team, capturing second place, followed by the Red, Yellow and Orange teams. The Philippine Embassy's Vice Consul, Roussel Reyes, was the guest of honor on the occasion and he was flanked by the Cultural Attaché, Rose Malicse, who officially opened the event and administered the symbolic lighting of the IT Olympic torch. The Board of Trustees, Board of Directors and Executive Officers, and all technical support staff, including the IT Olympic “Board of Judge”s, were in attendance. KSAMMA Medical Mission Team, Winnalite Arabia and Hunyango Partnes and Riyadh Shutter's Guild served as this year's major sponsors. The theme of this year's competition was “Ituro mo, Aaralin ko para sa Pagbabalik sa Bayan Ko!” Among the various categories in the competition were: MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Basic and Advanced Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Basic Autocad, 3D Max Rendering, 3D Max Modelling, Networking 1 and 2, Computer Fundamentals, Digital Photography and Exhibition, MS Access and Basic and Advanced PC Assembly. All categories were judged by a group of distinguished jurors from various fields of expertise in ICT.
