MANILA: Shrugging off jet lag and unfamiliarity with his new team, new Petron Blaze import Jeremy Wise exploded for 33 points to lead the Boosters to a 115-106 win against the Air21 Express Friday night in the PBA Governor's Cup. Arwind Santos added 15 points and 21 rebounds as the Boosters rebounded from their 100-105 loss to the Meralco Bolts last Sunday. Petron Blaze won despite the foot injury suffered early in the first half by Jay Washington, the team's leading scorer, which forced him to sit out the rest of the game. Washington's injury added woes to a team already missing the services of three players due to injuries — Denok Miranda (sore foot), Danny Ildefonso and Nonoy Baclao, both nursing knee injuries. Air21 suffered its second straight defeat following its 94-116 loss to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last Wednesday. In the first game of the double-header played at the Araneta Coliseum, Peter June Simon played like an import and sizzled for 33 points, leading the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados to 103-90 win over the Powerade Tigers. Simon turned into a one-man scoring machine in the second quarter as the Llamados erased a 16-point deficit to pull ahead for good.
