Sa'adi, chairman of the Real Estate Committee at the Madina Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has submitted a study to the regional Emir, Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majed, on a preservation and renovation project for the historical area of Madina. The study for the project gives an estimated cost of SR1 billion for work to “highlight the ancient aspect of Madina and its outstanding architecture of Islamic design and preserve the heritage for which it has long been famous”. The project will also, according to the study, help small family industries and provide a market for their products as well as help the High Commission for Tourism in its creation of an “attractive tourist area”. “The project begins with the Al-Anbariya District which houses the regional Emirate, the Madina Mayoralty building, the old train station and the historic Al-Ghamama Mosque,” the study says.
