LONDON: Rewilding, ridden by Frankie Dettori, upset hot favorite So You Think to win the Prince Of Wales' Stakes, the feature race on the second day of Royal Ascot Wednesday. So You Think, a Group One winner and top middle-distance performer in Australia before joining Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien in a multi-million pound deal at the end of last year, was sent off as the favorite but was worn down in the final strides by Dettori and Rewilding who won by a neck. Rewilding is trained in Newmarket by Mahmood Al-Zarooni for Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin stable. “I'm very satisfied,” Sheik Mohammed said. “These are the races you always wait for and when you win, it is a great thing.” So You Think's trainer Aiden O'Brien said the favorite was not fit enough, although the Australian horse finished ahead of Sri Putra. “I will take responsibility for this personally,” O'Brien said. “Frankie gave his horse a beautiful ride, on a horse that stays a mile-and-a-half well, he just came and got him in the last 50 yards. “I think it was trainer error, I didn't have him fit enough for this kind of race ... I would think there's improvement to come.” “It was a tremendous battle with two great horses. When I got past him it was a sheer joy,” said Italian Dettori, who was later hit with a nine-day ban by stewards for using his whip with excessive frequency on the winner. “Rewilding doesn't get the recognition he deserves. He's a very good horse and he showed his true colors today.” The big-striding and imposing So You Think has amassed over three million pounds ($4.90 million) in prizemoney and was third when favorite for the Melbourne Cup in November. Trainer Richard Hannon and son-in-law jockey Richard Hughes, successful with Canford Cliffs in the Queen Anne Stakes Tuesday, had another memorable day. The pair teamed up to win the Jersey Stakes with Strong Suit and the Queen Mary Stakes with Best Terms.
