Since ancient times, Shamans have claimed that Santorini was part of the mystical legend of the lost continent of Atlantis. Another popular claim is that Santorini is that the present-day submerged caldera there was the epicentre of what was probably the biggest volcanic eruption in recorded history, some 3,500 years ago. I think it is the most spectacular of all the Greek Islands and certainly is the “blue and white” architecture capital of the world. Santorini is part of the Cyclades group of Islands located 200 kilometers south east of the Greek mainland with the municipality of Thira and the community of Oia lying on the caldera's rim. Locals graciously share their community with literally thousands of tourists every season. Tourism is big business and Santorini has lots to offer.
