JIZAN: Jizan Police chief Jameel Al-Ruhaili has said that the authorities are considering deploying female officers at road checkpoints. He told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that there is “a plan to involve female officers at checkpoints”. Speaking at the opening of a new police station in Shuqaiq Monday Al-Ruhaili said that over the last five months night raids on locations where persons suspected of living in the Kingdom illegally were residing or illegal activities were being practiced led to the arrest of 17,527 people. “We carry out weekly campaigns targeting persons of unknown identity who have taken to living in valley areas,” Al-Ruhaili said. “They have resulted so far this year in the arrests of over 17,000 persons. When the iron fence at the border is finished we will see no more such persons, with the cooperation of the security authorities in the region.”
