JEDDAH: Talented local musicians and dancers are expected to provide top-class entertainment for city residents at the Italian Cultural Center from June 7 to 8. “The Century Event”, organized by Century 21 Events Pvt. Ltd., promises two days of shows for Jeddawis. Over 2,500 people are expected to turn up for “two unforgettable nights”, according to the organizers. The event coincides with the city's summer festival 2011. “Jeddah has a culture of entertainment and its residents have an appetite for laughter. Four of the best stand-up comedians – Rahman Akthar, Omar Ramzi, Mohammad Hussain and Thamer Al-Hazmi – will showcase Saudi talent. We are not inviting a single performer from outside,” said Hatem Abusitta, Executive Manager at Century 21 Events. “We strive to expose youth to a wide range of experiences, opportunities and resources to drive positive change in their own lives and the community,” said Abusitta. Ramzi, also known as the “White Sudanese”, is popular on the Jeddah comedy circuit. He is an Irish-Sudanese English teacher and is performing next week. “I'm excited about this event and am ready for it,” he said. Hussein is a well-known Saudi comedian famous for his YouTube Arabic comedy show “As It Goes” and others. “I look forward to working with Century Events.” The six-member hip-hop band J-FAM has signed on to present three of their exclusive sound tracks from an upcoming album. Jeddah Dance Crew, a nine-member hip-hop and break dance crew, is also performing during the three-hour event which will feature exotic theater and the quintessential DJ Zak. The event has received generous support from Nescafe. Helen Cupcakes, Rabea Express Tea Bags and Gelato are also event partners besides Mix FM radio station, Grand Kai Fitness Center, Bridges Bookstore and Universal Legends. Tickets are priced at SR200 a person and can be bought from seven locations in the city – Bridges Bookstore (Arafat Street), Grand Kai Fitness Center (Serafi Mall, Malek Road), Crepe Cafe (Stars Avenue Mall), Century Events Office (Tahlia), Italian Cultural Center and Rio De Janeiro Restaurant (Sari Street).
