Nazima Bano Senior section Coordinator Obhur International School, Jeddah Cyber crimes are one of the most complicated problems in the modern world in which the computer and Internet are misused. Cyber crimes include spam, cheating, identity theft, drug trafficking, harassment, cyber terrorism, cyber warfare, offensive content, unauthorized control etc. These problems arise because of users' negligence and it is very shocking to note that most hackers are adolescents who fall into such criminal traps very easily. Many people are affected by cyber crimes from an ordinary person to a organizations like Microsoft, NASA and Sony. The recent cyber crime at Sony, for instance, was basically about identity theft. The Internet is also used by terrorist groups to naive, young people. It is impossible to eradicate cyber crime but we must become more aware and at least try to limit it. Sahar Sultan English teacher (Senior section) Manarat International School (GS), Jeddah Cyber crime is the latest and perhaps the most complicated problem in the cyber world. Any criminal activity that uses a computer either as an instrumentality, target or a means for perpetuating further crimes comes within the ambit of cyber crime. Examples include unauthorized access to computer/computer systems/computer networks; theft of information contained in the electronic form, email bombing, data didling, salami attacks, logic bombs, Trojan attacks, Internet time thefts, web jacking, theft of the computer system and physically damaging the computer system Mae Mohammed Grade 9 student Manarat International School (GS), Jeddah Millions of people are harmed every day by those who choose to break the law by committing cyber crime. Thousands of people have grown familiar with the terms ‘phishing' and ‘pharming'. It is the abuse of indiciduals' private information by tricking them into handing it over themselves. So why do it? Why harm others in a way you would never want to be harmed? Protect yourself against it. How? Be more careful. Check if the website taking your information is real or fake. Do not take any chances! Hala Jabbad Grade 9 student Manarat International School (GS), Jeddah Technology is spreading widely and rapidly. The Internet has become one of the world's largest sources of information and entertainment. But what happens when this information is no longer able to stay protected? Cyber crime is one of the most common criminal activities these days. They are usually performed by teenagers. Hacking is probably the best example of cyber crime, because a lot of people waste their skills on hacking! I advise those who are good with technology to use their talent for something more useful. Mariam Mohammed Grade 9 student Manarat International School (GS), Jeddah What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this term Probably a lot of things, but the most important thing that you should be thinking of is how to prevent it. Many of us fall for the “too good to be true ads” online, asking for our bank account details. Although they might seem unreasonable straight away, we are still curious to find out if they are real or not. Becoming a victim of cyber crime is very common but by following the right measures it can be prevented. Abdullah Nasir Jamal Grade 11 student Al Wurood International School, Jeddah Recent research collected from 45 companies over a four-week period discovered 50 successful cyber attacks every week. Hackers are interested in stealing a variety of things including employee records, customer information, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, and other sensitive information. They even steal trade secrets that can be sold or held for ransom. To defeat these criminals, a user has to be vigilant enough to not reveal his/her password and other information to fraudulent traps.
