Faisal, Emir of Makkah, chaired Sunday a meeting of the Jeddah governorate's Local Development Council to view progress in construction work projects. The meeting began with an overview of damage caused by the most recent rains and the action taken by the authorities in response, and continued by looking at works completed in the last two years and projects set for the current year. The meeting assessed 84 works under construction, 19 projects that have been delayed and the need for a further 27 projects. Prince Khaled and Development Council members also evaluated successful and delayed projects and projected needs concerning water, drainage, electricity and road and transport projects, as well as plans for health centers, Red Crescent facilities, and schools. The council said project works were require for 135 boys and 224 girls schools. At the conclusion of the meeting Prince Khaled reiterated the need for extra effort and speed in construction work projects and investigations into the causes of delayed works. “Further works are projected for the Jeddah governorate to meet the increased population density and demand for educational, health, and social services, and water, electricity and roads,” the Emir said. “I will do all I can and all that is required to bring the public peace of mind and realize the aspirations of the leadership.”
