YANBU: Befitting its name Maestro XI came out with all guns blazing in the final of the second YIC Saudi Students' Cricket Tournament which was sponsored by Saudi Cricket Center (SCC). It lifted the coveted trophy, beating Barcelona XI by 14 runs. Barcelona XI won the toss and elected to field, hoping to take advantage of windy conditions. Man of the Match, Maestro's Yousuf Dawood Fatani, scored 40 runs with four sixes in a total of 101 runs. For Barcelona XI, skipper Abdullah Samman was the most successful bowler with five wickets. Chasing a tough target of 102 runs, Barcelona XI was reeling at 14 for 3 with Qahtani bagging three scalps. Abdulmajeed showed resistance scoring runs all over the ground but a reverse flick at 37 proved suicidal as he got caught behind the wicket off the bowling of Yousuf. Barcelona XI was packed up for 87. Dr. Ahmed Dabroom gave away the trophy. Holding the trophy aloft the winning team did a victory lap amidst loud applause by the YIC students at the YACA ground. Outstanding performers were given special prizes. Abdullelah Mohammed Al-Hassan was adjudged the best all-rounder, Abdulaziz Bahoot the best-bowler (11 wickets twith a hat trick) and Motaz Wassel Al-Salhi got the best batsman's award (two fifties). Other dignitaries present at the presentation ceremony included Engineer Yousif Jaid Al-Hujaili (General Manager, Public Services Division Royal Commission), Bassam Abdullah Yamani (Director, Social Services Department, Royal Commission), Nadeem Nadwi (SCC CEO), Dr. Nasserr Bajaba (DMD, Students Affairs, YIC) and Dr. Gasim O. Alandjani (DMD, Academic Affairs). In the end Dr. Ahmed Dabroom thanked the Saudi Cricket Center for sponsoring the tournament and expressed hope that the students will excel and represent the Saudi national team in future. He had special praise for Abdullah Nadwi (national selector), Abbas Nadwi, Dr. Aamir, Dr. Khalid, Dr. Rajesh, Ali Rashid, Ayaz and Khuda Bux who volunteered to introduce the game of cricket to the students. He also appreciated the tournament officials Shankar and Murli provided by YACA. The college specially thanked Abd-Alwase Al-Johani and Badr Aldeen Mansour from the Student's Affairs department of YIC. __
