JEDDAH: The Girls' Education Administration in Jeddah is investigating claims from the parents of a schoolgirl that her school's failure to immediately call an ambulance after she suffered a fall led to memory loss and walking difficulties. “My daughter had an accidental fall at school and she was left bleeding for a long time before the school called an ambulance,” the girl's father said. “They also failed to call us straight away to tell us what had happened.” The girls' parents have written a complaint to the director general of Girls' Education demanding that the administration foot the bill for medical treatment required due to the school's failures. As the Education Administration looks into the complaint, a group complaint has been lodged by other parents of girls at the same secondary school condemning “maltreatment of pupils and procedural failures”. One parent said that his daughter was made to clean a classroom air-conditioning unit and fell from the table she was standing on to reach it. He said the girl suffered a dislocation of neck vertebrae. The joint complaint also states that materials had been stolen from girls' bags during inspections, and the parents request that their children be transferred to another school if the Education Administration is unable to address their concerns.
