The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued a royal order appointing Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Deputy Crown Prince along with his position as Second Deputy Premier. The Royal Order mandated that Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Crown Prince, be pledged allegiance as Crown Prince once the position of the Crown Prince is vacant, and be pledged allegiance as King of the state once the positions of the King and the Crown Prince are vacant at the same time. The position of 'Deputy Crown Prince' in terms of the pledge of allegiance is confined to the two cases mentioned in the above. 'Our choice, with the support and desire of Our Crown Prince to appoint Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz as Deputy Crown Prince in addition to the support and approval of the Pledge-Allegiance Commission of this move, is effective from the date of issuance of this order. This order shall not be amended or replaced by no means or by whomsoever. The contents of the document signed by Us and by Our Brother the Crown Prince No. 19155 dated on 19/5/1435H could also not be prejudiced or reinterpreted as well as the contents of the minutes of the Pledge-Allegiance Commission No. 1/ H B and dated on 26/5/1435H, supporting Our selection and that of Our Crown Prince for Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz with an overwhelming majority of more than three-fourths of the members of the Pledge-Allegiance Commission,' the Royal Order highlighted. 'Without prejudice to the above-mentioned (first, second and third) provisions of this order, if the King wishes - in the future- to choose a Deputy Crown Prince, he will have the right to submit his nominee's candidature for this post to the members of the Pledge-Allegiance Commission. The King would then issue a Royal decree of his choice after the approval of a majority of the members of the Pledge-Allegiance Commission,' the order added. 'This Royal Order shall be instructed to the competent authorities for implementation with immediate effect,' the statement concluded.
