Dr. Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani, President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) said today during a speech at a Summit on Nuclear Security, which concluded here today that the Kingdom was among the pioneering countries to adopt international nuclear related decisions to prevent those who might breach mass destruction materials from having access to them. He said the Kingdom was in addition to supporting the initiative to combat nuclear terrorism, the Kingdom was effectively and positively present in more than 20 international al activities related to nuclear security since the last summit in Seoul, Korea. He gave an account on the Kingdom's efforts to develop the infrastructure for nuclear security, citing the establishment of a specialized academic program on nuclear security in Prince Naif Arab University for Security Science. Yamani said Saudi Arabia has donated $500,000 to the work of the international organization for combating terrorism and $100 million to activate the UN Center for Combating Terrorism. He said the Kingdom is planning to put the outlines for its peaceful nuclear program to meet with the highest standards of the International Agency for Atomic Energy and that it is committed to establish a national accountancy system for control in nuclear materials.
