Hundreds of tourists were evacuated from the Eiffel Tower Friday after a bomb alert, but the Paris landmark was reopened two hours later, UPI quoted police as saying. The 1,062-foot tower is a frequent subject of bomb alerts, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported. France is among the Western countries on high alert since the United States and other countries closed a number of embassies over security concerns. Eyewitness accounts, seen on Twitter social media, said the French army joined police in investigating the bomb scare, the newspaper Ouest France said.
