Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held here today a meeting with the Moroccan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. In a statement following the meeting, the ministers stressed that this meeting came upon directives of the GCC and Moroccan leaders to establish strategic partnership between the two sides. The meeting also lauded the visit paid by the Moroccan King Mohammed VI to the GCC states which reflected the Moroccan King's keenness to develop distinguished relations among Morocco and the GCC states. 'Upon continuing consultations and discussions among the Kingdom of Morocco and the GCC States, the discussions which took place among the Foreign Ministers in their joint ministerial meeting reflected identical viewpoints towards regional and international issues of common interest,' the statement added. The meeting expressed support for all international initiatives and efforts aiming at bringing about world peace and security in a way that preserve the stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries and evading the political struggles, sectarian and tribal differences and social dismantle. The meeting approved the joint working plan on cooperation between Morocco and GCC for the term 2012 through 2017, holding a joint meeting between GCC foreign ministers and Morocco's counterpart annually or when deemed necessary, forming a joint committee for cooperation between the GCC and Morocco, comprising senior officials of the ministries of foreign affairs of the two sides, as well as the Secretariat General of the GCC to oversee the work of sub-committees and report to pertinent ministers. The meeting also approved the forming of specialized task teams on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, food security, transport, communications, environment, renewable energies, natural resources, tourism, education, scientific research, social development, culture, information, sports and youths in addition to judicial and justice cooperation, and hasting steps to arrange meetings for experts from the two sides to put the final stages for financing the required development projects based on the financial support allocated to this purpose for the Kingdom of Morocco.
