The Baha Region Principality issued today a statement on the accident which took place in Baljurashi Governorate at the small hours of last Saturday, and led to the death of the citizen Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Hurfi and the injury of his wife and two children. 'Regarding the accident that happened to citizen Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Hurfi on Baljurashi-Abha highway, which resulted in the death of the father and the injury of his wife and sons, the preliminary investigations were completed and the statements of all concerned parties were heard and documented. A report was submitted to the Region's Principality by the Region's Police. Then, the case was forwarded to the regional branch of the Commission of Investigation and Public Prosecution to consider the case,' the statement said. 'The preliminary investigations showed that it was the security patrol vehicle which first monitored the car of the citizen and his family, then talked to him and then chased him. After a while, the car of the Commission of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CPVPV) followed the citizen's car. When the citizen's car was stopped, a security officer walked to him to check his identity, but the citizen fled. The driver of the security patrol took to the chase again to stop him, till the accident took place,' the statement added. The Principality emphasized that it would not accept such individual practices, saying that there was no reason to chase the citizen's car, stating that such an act contradicts instructions, assignments and responsibilities of both the security patrol and CPVPV. However, the Principality does appreciate the efforts exerted by the security men and CPVPV staff, pointing that such an accident would not tarnish their efforts of serving the public. The Principality called on citizens to refrain from running away whenever they are asked to stop by security bodies.
