Majlis Al-Shura welcomed the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States participating in the 14th GCC Consultative Summit to be kicked off tomorrow in Riyadh under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council. Majlis Al-Shura confirmed that the consultative meeting reflects the keenness of the GCC leaders to follow and achieve the aspirations of the GCC peoples. The council added that the summit is importance because it takes place in exceptional circumstances in the region. The summit will review the recommendations of the GCC Ministerial Council to move from a stage of cooperation to a stage of union. This came at the start of the 32nd regular meeting of the Majlis held here today under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Majlis Al-Shura Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammad bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the meeting, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Secretary General of Majlis Al-Shura, said that Majlis Al-Shura discussed a number of issues on its agenda. The council approved a draft system of protection from abuse. Majlis approved a number of draft memorandums of understanding between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of France, the United States of America, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of San Marino in the field of money laundering and terrorist financing. Al-Shura also approved an agreement of cooperation with between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of Iraq in the field of transfer of persons sentenced to penalties involving deprivation of liberty.
