Further to the statement issued on 11/6/1432 AH on what had been done by a number of rioters in some provinces of the Eastern region, an official source at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) said that a number of security checks and vehicles in the province of Qatif came under gunfire attacks by those aggressors in an escalating way since last Monday, 25/12/1432 H, inciting and dictating by foreign malicious plans. The source also said that the security forces engaged in those locations under circumstances as required and they showed restraint as far as possible. The accident resulted in the killing (2) citizens and the injury of (6), including a woman and two security with shots, he added. The MOI's official source also pointed out that the funeral of one of the two deceased coincided today with multiple incidents of exchanging of gunfire, burning of containers and the closure of some roads which resulted in the deaths of (2) and injury of (3) citizens. The interior ministry's official source also said today that since these injuries occurred as a result of the exchange of gunfire with unknown criminal elements who have infiltrated among citizens and are firing from inside residential areas and narrow streets, all procedures authorized have been taken to investigate those casualties and find out those who are responsible in order to preserve the rights of citizens and ensure their safety. The ministry also made clear that it realizes that the goal of the rioters is to achieve the suspected objectives dictated to them by their masters abroad in an attempt to drag citizens and security forces to absurd confrontations, and therefore it warns all wishing to override the laws that the deterrent punishment will be applied accordingly and that security forces stationed in the area are entitled and empowered to deal with the situation to contain such criminal practices.
