The general Directorate of prisons signed a contract with two big food companies worth more than one trillion Riyals for three years to sustain the prisoners in all the Kingdom's prisons. Captain Abdulla Al Harby, the Assistant Media Spokesman of the Directorate, revealed that and said that the contract included a lot of terms that was framed around providing the best food supply and variety of what is served. It also compels those two companies to use new and modern tools when making all the meals, which are more varying than the previous contract. The General Manager of the prisons General Dr. Ali Al Harithy added that the Directorate took into account in this contract a lot of precise sides related to the quality of the served food along with hygiene regulations and whether of the kitchens, workers or the tools used in serving the meal. The Directorate also took into account when forming this contract some terms that include ensuring the fresh arrival of the meals to the prisoners and proper serving because the prisoner deserves to be served solely and in his own disposable dish from the kitchen directly. General Al Harithy also added that the terms of the contract included that both companies should provide fresh local meat that are slaughtered within the same day (Najdi – Nuaimi – Harri) and the managers of the prisons are allowed to serve local Hashi meat in occasions. As for Eid days, special meals will be served that fits in with the traditions so that the prisoners live the joy of those days and to provide them with environments similar to those outside the prison. We also stressed that the cooks and their assistants should be skilled. General Al Harithy assured that they don't hesitate about the hygiene aspect, which they consider a priority whether it be on the level of served food, serving tools, the workers in and outside the kitchen or even the delivery of the meals. The General indicated that the two companies will start their duties starting from Saturday 16/7/1432 and he assured that they'll do their best in serving the Saudi prisons to set a model internationally. He also thanked the governors for their big attention to the prisoners and prisons because this contract wasn't to be signed without their believe that regardless of the prisoner's fault he still remains a human after all and one of his simples rights is to get a proper caring and a good life that provide the essentials even inside the prison.
