In the presence of President Mahinda Rajapaksa of the Republic of Sri Lanka, the Saudi charity campaign for the relief of the affected by the earthquake and tsunami in East Asia handed over today the typical King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz City in Ampara district to the Sri Lankan government, which will complete the procedures necessary to deliver the units to those affected and operate its facilities and services. The signing ceremony of the city handover was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Abdulaziz Al-Jammaz; Director of Regional Office for the Saudi charity campaign in Sri Lanka, Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Salama for the Saudi side and Governor of the district of Ampara, Shevanecan Chandra Candan for Sri Lankan side. On the occasion, the President of Sri Lanka expressed thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General and Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior and who is also the General Supervisor of Saudi Charity Campaign for the Relief of the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in East Asia for the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in addition to its humanitarian deeds. He also expressed his great gratitude for this integrated charitable project, which named after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in recognition of his humanitarian stances towards the Sri Lankan people.
