Gulf Rescue Project for Bahrain
Published in Alriyadh on 19 - 02 - 2011

National security is the obsession of every country, without which stability and comprehensive development cannot be achieved. All the revolutions and turmoil that happened across the Arab World was a result of the piling issues that had been neglected by governments unknowing that they would become a reason for explosion in Bahrain that has a dynamic and unspoiled people who obtained an education that surpasses most of the Arab countries, and achieved political and social systems f a model that overweighed countries with constitutions, public rights and independent judiciaries. However, all the unrest and turmoil situations that took place during the last few days are not confined to Bahrain only as the government has entered good reforms. But if motives like poverty unemployment and curbing freedoms where the factors of mobilization and the tools for finding any religious, tribal, sectarian, or patriotic securer, Bahrain's conditions, and its villages which live in bad conditions, should not be attributed only to the current government, but also to the rich GCC countries which did not take in consideration how to solve the poverty issue through a project that should not only deal with the current situation, but also with the future consequences, because the security of any Gulf country will be the responsibility of all the GCC countries in order to prevent any foreign or regional intervention that might succeed in establishing its pillars in any county. And in the light of the information revolution and its expansion, things cannot continue without carrying out radical changes that satisfy all people of all walks of life.
Time is passing, and it is necessary to accelerate a comprehensive building project for Bahrain to which every Gulf country should contribute. Such project should not be ascribed to any form of justification whatever its explanation was and regardless to its narrow prospective. There are basic needs to oppress the turmoil by political, social and financial reforms because the appearance of the model commercial areas does not block the background of the metal tin-built cities that lacks infrastructure. Apart from the other opinions, the crisis between the state and the demonstrations, and escalating demands to reach what violates the nature of the historical roots of the royal family might exacerbate the situation. However, a transparent dialogue that poses the different dimensions of the issue is the only rescue method to find a way out of the controversy of other conflicts that might be aroused by the same reasons that lead to the current conditions.
Let us say that the matter is totally a national Bahraini issue, this is true. However, let us take a look from a prospective that is not only directed towards the current events. Let us take a look at the motives and reasons that mobilized the social groups, either supported by a sectarian social group, or came as a test of the state's power and the ability to copy what is happening on the whole Arab arena, then to come out with results and promises that do not put an end to the crises, and to repeat the same in other events. Bahrain has witnessed many cases. However, if the security was negligent, the whole Gulf will suffer the difficult results, and most importantly that the Iranian ambition that has been previously declared by more than one official stating that Bahrain is part of if it will be achieved.
The GGC should be held with all its leaders and ministers to treat Bahrain's issues based on the moral and brotherliness responsibilities in order not to let an important member of the Council go with the winds.
