An operation to ensure the safe departure of residents in Al-Awamiyah seeking to escape terrorist disturbances in the town began Saturday. The security authorities in Qatif region set specific routes to be followed by families and individuals wanting to leave the town. They coordinated and secured the exit routes in each neighborhood to allow the residents to leave safely. The security authorities have asked the departing residents to raise white flags on their vehicles to indicate they are part of the evacuation plan. A number of residents of the town had earlier contacted the Al-Awamiyah Liaison Committee asking for secure exit routes to leave the town. The committee announced these safe routes Friday, urging the residents to stick to the evacuation plan and warning them against taking certain roads. The residents of the town were fed up with the ruthless acts of terrorists who often try to use families as human shields. They have chosen to leave the town rather than be exploited by the terrorists, until the security forces complete their operations of cleansing the town. The Qatif governorate has called on the departing families to contact the office for accommodation.
