Saudi Gazette report DAMMAM — Two officials of the Anti-Drug Department were injured in a shooting incident at 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday in Qatif in the Eastern Province. The patrol team came under intense gunfire from unknown assailants in a farm area between Al-Awamiyah and Al-Qudaih villages, according to spokesman of the Eastern Province police, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The patrol team chief and a member, who sustained injuries, were taken to the nearby hospital and their condition is reported to be stable. Security authorities launched a manhunt for the attackers, the spokesman said. Meanwhile, Prince Jalawi Bin Abdulaziz, assistant deputy emir of the province, said that last week's criminal act in Al-Ahsa showed how the citizens in the country are holding fast to national cohesion. “People from all walks of life were united in condemning the vicious crimes committed by these criminals against innocent people. “Islam considers shedding blood of innocent people as the gravest of all crimes,” he said. Prince Jalawi also praised the bravery of the security forces who were able to apprehend the criminals within a short span of time. On Monday, the Council of Ministers condemned the criminal incident in Al-Ahsa. It called the incident an unjust terrorist aggression from spiteful people who killed Muslims unlawfully. Last Monday, three masked gunmen attacked a group of residents in Al-Dalwah village in Al-Ahsa governorate, killing five and injuring nine.
