Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir, currently on a visit to Italy, affirmed that solving the crisis with Qatar should be within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, expressing hope that the voice of wisdom in Qatar will prevail, so that the region to be in a better position than it is now. Speaking at a joint press conference with Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano in Rome yesterday, on Friday after their bilateral talks, the Minister Al-Jubeir said: "We talked about the situation with Qatar and explained to Minister Alfano the decisions taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt against Qatar due to the Qatari support and finance of terrorism, harboring terrorists, incitement, spreading hatred and interfere in other countries' internal affairs. We provided our Qatari brothers with a set of demands that fall within these principles and we hope that the wisdom in Qatar will prevail and respond positively to these demands so that we can put an end to this page and go ahead. We will wait until the desired change to be occurred," He added: "There should be no tolerance for extremism and terrorism, and we must find solutions to these problems, noting that there are many other things in the region that we should be interested in. We are determined to continue to see the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and develop our economy and standard of living. Dealing with terrorism and extremism complicates this process, adding that there is agreement to work with our partners and allies in Italy to defeat this scourge," Al-Jubeir also stressed that the four countries have taken this step not with the aim of harming Qatar, but on the contrary, it did so with pain. On the relations with Iran, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that Iran interferes in the internal affairs of countries, ignites sectarianism, cultivates terrorist cells in our countries, violates international agreements with regard to ballistic missiles, dispatches its Revolutionary Guards to Syria, Iraq and Yemen, and smuggles weapons and explosives in Kuwait, Bahrain and Yemen to hit the stability of the region," He added that "We have a party indulged in aggressive behavior since 1979 and other parties receive this aggressive behavior and this is related to Iran's pursuit of control of the region, which we will not allow it to happen." On the peace process in the Middle East, Minister Al-Jubeir said that everyone knows how the settlement; two states for two peoples with East Al-Quds as the capital of the Palestinians, adding that "We must push the parties to this direction with the hope that wisdom prevails and that people can pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque without interference." Minister Al-Jubeir also said that he exchanged with his Italian counterpart views on current issues of terrorism and extremism, the situation in North Africa and the Middle East in general, as well as reviewing historical and positive bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Italy in various fields such as trade, investment, education, political consultation and other sectors which both sides seek to expand. For his part, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs described the discussions with Minister Al-Jubeir as positive, stressing the existence of many opportunities to strengthen and deepen Italian relations with the Kingdom, commending its importance as a trading partner.
