It is time that Qatar comes out clean as to what it really intends to do with its support for terror elements. If the escalating diplomatic crisis has to be resolved, Qatar should leave no room for any doubt or ambiguity. Qatar's security and stability are at stake, and so also that of the region and the world. The Muslim Brotherhood is desperate for power wherever it may be. This has been its history. But it is sensibly expelled from wherever it seeks to pitch its toxic tent of terror. The Brotherhood not only vitiates the political atmosphere, but also soils the social fabric of places where it has gained a foothold in some way. It exploits the poor economic conditions wherever it operates actively and spreads its venomous ideology surreptitiously. It is different when it comes to Qatar. Here the Brotherhood has found a place of its dreams, a ready incubator from where it can nurse the devil himself and sow the seeds of sedition all around. Qatar has provided the group with every goody in its pantry to help foster its subversive agenda. Qatar has opened up its media organs to spread the Brotherhood message and attack its enemies. Qatar held the misguided impression that it would gain much by way of power from supporting the Brotherhood. But Qatar has gained absolutely nothing other than inviting Arab wrath, while the group has a willing fall guy to bankroll its operations far and wide. With Qatar's backing, it has spread its tentacles to Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Syria and the GCC member states. Of course, Qatar has used other terrorist clones as well to sabotage the interests of Gulf countries. One would have hoped that the Qatari role in the region would have been constructive rather than the destructive path it has adopted – a clear result of abundant wealth on one side, and a lack of political vision on the other.
