These remarks were unfolded, during a joint press conference held here today, with the Romanian premier, currently on a visit to the US.
The president stressed that it is time to call on Qatar to stop funding terrorism and extremist ideology, stressing that no civilized country tolerates terrorism and violence or allows this evil ideology to spread.
He explained that he had decided with the Secretary of the State Rex Tillerson, the generals and the military that the time had come to call on Qatar to stop funding and that it must stop this funding and finance extremist ideology.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called on Qatar to do more to stop funding terrorism and expel terrorists from its country as quickly as possible.
In a press release, Tillerson said that three weeks ago, the President has joined the GCC leaders in a strong demonstration of partnership, rejection of extremism and defeat of terrorism in all its kinds in the region and throughout the world.
He added that the United States would like to reiterate confirmation of its commitment to the spirit which prevailed the summit, in reference to the Arab Islamic American summit.
The U.S. Secretary of State asserted that combating extremism requires a regional and international consensus and mutual understanding as the GCC summit has created a platform to achieve this congruence and understanding. We call on Qatar to respond to the issues of concern to its neighbors given its history of supporting different political groups and violent activists.
He added that others ought to continue wiping out the segments who support violence, noting that this is a matter of commitment of all who took part in the Arab Islamic American summit.
An official source expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's welcoming of the statements made by the US President Donald Trump in which he called on Qatar to stop funding terrorism.

The UAE has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's statements about Qatar.
"The UAE welcomes President Trump's leadership in challenging Qatar's troubling support for extremism. The next step is for Qatar to acknowledge these concerns and commit to reexamine its regional policies," UAE Ambassador to the United States Yousef Al Otaiba stated.
"This will provide the necessary basis for any discussions, Al Otaiba added.
