The Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced today a ban on laborers working under the sun from June 15 until September 15. The annual ban aims at ensuring the safety of workers, safeguarding them against occupational hazards, and improving the work environment. The official spokesman of the Ministry, Khalid Aba Al-khail, said the ministerial resolution No. 3337, 2015, stipulates, "A worker shall not be ordered to work in the sun from 12 pm to 3 pm, from June 15 until September 15 every year." Aba Al-Khail called on employers to organize work hours in accordance with the provisions of this resolution. He pointed out that the ministry was working hard to provide a safe work environment, free of the various work hazards. It was seeking to raise the level of safety to reduce injuries and occupational diseases, which, in turn, will increase productivity, he said. The spokesman pointed out that the decision excludes governorates in some regions because temperatures do not reach such levels that call for a similar ban. He called on the public to contact customer service number, 19911, or use the "Together Monitoring" application to report any violations in this regard.
