Driving through a yellow light is not considered a traffic violation, according to an official of the General Directorate of Traffic. Col. Tariq Al-Rubaian, the Directorate spokesman, made this clarification in response to claims that this was a violation. Al-Rubaian added that, as is internationally known, drivers must stop at the yellow light only if he is safely able to do so. Most drivers erroneously think the yellow light is an extension of the green, rather than a warning to stop, he noted.
