The Riyadh Police have arrested a drunken man for pulling a gun on passersby in a public road in Riyadh. The police received a call reporting that a middle-aged man was driving along a main road in Riyadh in a vehicle without license plates and threatening pedestrians with a gun. A spokesman for the Riyadh Police said on Friday night that security patrols rushed to the area where the armed man was last seen and arrested him without any violence. He was a citizen in his 30s. A bottle of branded liquor and an unlicensed hand gun with a number of bullets were recovered from the vehicle, which was found parked in a bystreet in the Al-Hamra neighborhood, east of the capital. The man is facing charges of disturbing public order, possession of illegal arms, possession and consumption of liquor, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Each charge carries the sentence of imprisonment and lashing. Alcohol is strictly prohibited in the Kingdom as per Sharia laws. Violators face jail terms and flogging.
