Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih announced the launch of the King Salman Renewable Energy Initiative during the opening of the Kingdom Forum for Investment in Renewable Energy here today. He also launched tender documents for the Sakaka solar project with a capacity of 300 MW, and offered a bid for a 400 MW wind power project after completion of its feasibility study. The two-day forum is being hosted by the Office for the Development of Renewable Energy Projects at the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Mineral Resources. Addressing the opening session, Al-Falih revealed some details of the second phase of the National Renewable Energy Program. He also announced the opening of the National Renewable Energy Data Center (NREC) of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, which will serve as the central body for high-quality data on the renewable energy sector in the Kingdom to investors. The minister said that the Kingdom has all the necessary elements necessary to make investments in renewable energy a success story for itself as well as for investors. He noted the Kingdom's interest in attracting investors from home and abroad to participate in its developmental process.
