The Jeddah Police have revealed new details of the despicable attempt by an Arab husband to extort SR one million in cash from his Saudi wife. The husband, a 39-year-old Lebanese faked his abduction by two men and pleaded to his 34-year-old Saudi wife to pay them the ransom money. The husband plotted with the two accomplices, a Pakistani and a Palestinian, to stage the attack on him. The husband met the Pakistani accomplice who worked in the company's owned by the wife's father around three weeks ago and plotted with him the fake attack and promised to pay him following the success of the plot. In preparation for their crime, the Pakistani prepared a gun, knives and a car license plate faked as an explosive belt and contacted a Palestinian to assist him in carrying out their crime. After coordination, the two forcibly entered the house on the day of the crime, held the husband and threatened to kill him in front of his wife unless she paid them one million riyal. The wife pretended to be responsive to them and asked them to allow her to make a phone call to secure the ransom money. The wife, instead, called the emergency number (911) to report the attack. A police force stormed the house and arrested the two men who tried to resist and flee. The investigation revealed the role of the husband in the abduction scenario and he too was arrested.
