A specialized medical team at the Pediatric and Obstetrics Hospital in Jeddah saved the life of a 23-week-old premature baby whose weight did not exceed 700 grams. The child suffered from inflammation of the intestines and a hole in one of them, which necessitated urgent surgery. The procedure involved opening up the abdomen, despite the infant's delicate condition. Doctors decided that surgical procedure was the only way to save the baby's life, but it was an imposing challenge for the anesthesiologist and the pediatric surgeon. The baby did not suffer from any post-surgery complication and is currently under close observation.
