An official source at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strong condemnation of chemical attacks on Khan Sheikhoun, Idlib, killing tens of innocent people, including women and children. The source said that this is a new humanitarian tragic caused by the Syrian brutal regime. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the source emphasized that this criminal act is a flagrant violation of global principles of humanitarian law. It is also a blatant violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions including Security Council resolution 2118 and 2209 on the use of chemical weapons in Syria. The official source reiterated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's position calling upon the UN to uphold its responsibility in taking serious and decisive measures to put an end to such criminal acts.
