Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Patronize Ceremony of King Faisal International Prize Later Today

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will patronize here today the handing over ceremony of King Faisal International Prize at Al-Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques will receive King Faisal International Prize for the Service of Islam which is granted to him due to the great services he rendered to the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, his care of and support for the the Prophet's biography in general and the project of Historical Atlas for the Prophet's biography in particular, and his constant efforts to enhance solidarity of the Arabs and Muslims to cope with the difficult conditions facing the Arab and Islamic nations.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques will give away the awards to the other laureates of the 39th version of King Faisal International Prize in the categories of Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, science and medicine.
Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Governor of Makkah Region, who is also the Executive President of King Faisal Foundation and Chairman of King Faisal International Prize, has announced the winners of King Faisal International Prize for this year 1438H (2017) in the five categories whereas four researchers and a scientific institution were announced winners of the prize.
The winners are as follows:
- Professor Ridwan Al-Sayyid, Professor at University of Lebanon, in the field of the Islamic Studies for his study titled " Muslim Political Thought Up To The 9th Century H./15th Century G."
- Arabic Language Academy of Jordan in the field of Arabic Language and Literature for its Efforts of Individuals and Institutions to Arabicize Science and Technology for Transfer: Research and Educational Purposes.
- Professor Tadamitsu Kishimoto, Professor of Immunology in Frontier Research Center at Osaka University, in the field of medicine for Biologic Therapeutics in Autoimmune Diseases.
- Professor Daniel Loss from Switzerland Professor Laurens Molenkamp from Netherlands shared the prize in the field of science.
King Faisal International Prize is launched by the King Faisal Foundation (KFF) and granted for the first time in 1979. The King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) recognizes the outstanding works of individuals and institutions in five major categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. Its aim is to benefit Muslims in their present and future, inspire them to participate in all aspects of civilization, as well as enrich human knowledge and develop mankind. KFIP winners are evaluated only based on merit and their works are meticulously examined by specialized selection committees.
