The recent terror attack in a high profile area of London is a clear warning that nobody is safe from the blood-soaked designs of terrorists. These terrorists are influenced by extremist thoughts. It is unfortunate and condemnable that they believe that they are part of Islam. Of course, Islam has nothing to do with such evil acts. Islam does not accept killing of innocents. The Holy Quran and Sunni teachings advocate stringent punishments for those who perpetuate such acts. Terrorism has spread worldwide for the pretext of various causes. Eventually it all narrows down to extremism, with the end result being bloodshed. Attempts by individual countries to fight terrorism have not yet succeeded despite their vast security apparatus and resources. However integrated may be these efforts, there are bound to be some gaps, which terrorists seek to exploit – as in the case of the London attack. No country can fight terrorism alone. It requires collective action involving every peace-loving country in the world. It is only then that some headway may be made in fighting destructive extremist thought, which only poisons the mind into committing acts of terror.
