The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Houston issued a press statement last night, in which it pointed to what has been reported by media and websites on the death of two students on scholarship Amjad Ali Hassan Balkheir and Mohammed Samir Hassan Mufti in the city of Rockford, Illinois State. The Consulate pointed out that it received a phone call from the head of students club at the University of Rockford on Sunday, 20/6/1438 AH, corresponding to 19/3/2017, stating that the two students died at the university; and immediately the Consulate on Monday, 21/6/1438 AH - 20/3/2017 assigned the head of Legal Affairs Department of the consulate to travel to Rockford, Illinois to communicate with competent security authorities in the city to find out the circumstances surrounding the death of the students. The statement said that according to the preliminary information received from the police, there is no criminal suspicion of the death of the two students and the matter is under investigation. The Consulate communicated with the families of the deceased and the competent authorities to ensure the speedy completion of procedures for handing the deceased and transferring them to their families in the Kingdom after completing the necessary procedures as soon as possible, noting that it will continue to follow up this case in coordination with the cultural attaché office in Washington and the competent government agencies in the city.
