The Directorate of Civil Defense in Riyadh has directed citizens and residents to take precautions against fluctuating weather conditions in all Saudi regions. Major Mohammed Al-Hammadi, the Civil Defense spokesman in Riyadh, said the Riyadh region is expected to be affected by active surface winds that stir dust and limit visibility. There is a possibility of thunderstorms from Saturday morning to Sunday evening. The Directorate called on everyone to take simple precautionary measures, such as staying at home unless there is an absolute need to venture out. It also asked people to be cautious when passing by billboards and light poles. It urged all residents to stay away from enclosures with metal roofs and to avoid driving, or drive at low speed in the event of dust storms. It asked motorists to be particularly cautious on highways where visibility could be poor. It advised patients with asthma and other respiratory ailments to keep their medications handy and to stay indoors.
