La La Land director Damien Chazelle's latest project teams him up once again with Ryan Gosling. The pair are working on a biopic centering on Neil Armstrong, the astronaut who became the first man to set foot on the moon, and the release date has been announced as October, 12, 2018 – in time for the 2019 awards season. The film will focus on the Nasa astronaut, played by Gosling, from the year 1961 up to the Moon landing in 1969. A first-person account, the movie will explore one of the most dangerous space missions in history. Adapted by Oscar-winning screenwriter Josh Singer (Spotlight) and based on James Hansen's biography First Man: The Life of Neil A Armstrong, the script will also explore the cost of the mission to both Armstrong and America. Chazelle and Gosling's first film together, La La Land, won six awards at last month's Oscars, including best director. The 32-year-old Chazelle became the youngest to ever win the category.
