The Iran-backed rebels in Yemen are on the run. The Arab coalition is set to restore legitimacy to the country, contrary to enemy expectations of a rebel victory that would have posed new problems for the region. The coalition's goals were clear at the very onset. It had no intention to interfere in Yemen's central affairs, but to restore the authority of the internationally recognized government. Its aim was to maintain the sovereignty of the nation and preserve its Arab identity. The coalition's humanitarian mission was to help Yemenis overcome the rebel-induced hardships that include death and destruction, leading to displacements and acute shortage of basic services such as health and education. All these objectives are set to be fulfilled. People have already begun talking about the next phase. There is talk of reconstruction and development. Free trade zones at the Saudi-Yemeni border are also being discussed. These are good signs. Yemenis are yearning for a comprehensive and enduring solution to their problems that would bring about lasting security, peace and development. They are looking to building their own country and reshaping their battered landscape. Of course, this can only be achieved after stability is fully restored and the devious Iranian plots are foiled. Being a staunch supporter of the Yemeni people, Saudi Arabia has opened up its resources for their welfare and development – for a new era, for a new Yemen.
