The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has approved the right of male of female household workers to transfer their sponsorships if they are not paid for three consecutive months. They can also transfer their sponsorships if they are not received by their employers 15 days after they are housed in temporary shelters, or their residence permits are not issued or not renewed within 30 days of expiry. A housemaid also has this right if her employer fails to receive her at the first point of entry. A household worker can also transfer his/her sponsorship if the employer lets out their services to another employer without their knowledge or assigns them to work with non-relatives or do hazardous work. The workers also have the right to leave their sponsors if it is proved that they are being mistreated or if any lawsuit in which they are involved is pending for a long time and they are not the cause of the delay. The rule also applies if the employer files a false complaint of non-attendance against the employee. The new employer to whom the service is transferred can impose a maximum probationary period of 15 days. He will have to pay the transfer fees and SR 150-per-day charge if the worker is given refuge in a government shelter.
