Talking on a mobile phone when stopped at a traffic light is not a violation, the Directorate General for Traffic has said, while denying that cameras have been installed to monitor this assumed irregularity. Responding to an enquiry on Twitter, the Directorate said drivers using their mobile phones at the traffic lights were not violating any traffic rules. Social network sites displayed photos of drivers using mobiles at traffic lights and claimed they were being monitored. The Directorate denied the claims as untrue. However, it is illegal to use a phone while driving or riding a motorcycle.
