Newspapers around the world have hailed a Saudi police officer for courageously shooting dead two dangerous terrorists in a street encounter in Riyadh. The British Daily Mail praised the courage of the police officer, Jubran Al-awaji, who confronted the two militants armed with machine guns and strapped with bomb-laden belts. The encounter began at dawn when the security authorities raided their hideout after receiving information about the two suspects and their plans to carry out terrorist attacks. The two armed militants refused to surrender which led to the gun battle. Footage taken from a bedroom window shows the terrorists, armed with machine guns, approaching the police car. They succeed in reaching right up to the police vehicle, but Awaji shot them at close range before they could perpetrate terror. In a press conference here yesterday, Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen.Mansour Alturki said that security forces had located the hide-out of the two terrorists whose names appeared on the most wanted list.
