Prince Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has stated that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' government is working to transform the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's economy to a knowledge-based economy through several strategic initiatives including the strengthening of national capabilities in the field of scientific research and technical development. He said those efforts and unlimited support have yielded to provide developed technology structure and qualified national cadres in many technical fields, including remote sensing techniques. Prince Dr. Turki made this statement during his opening the activities of the International Remote Sensing Conference, which is being organized by KACST in cooperation with Saudi Aramco here yesterday, under the patronage of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense. The KACST Chief also said that the City has, for nearly 30 years, used remote sensing techniques to meet the requirements of development in the Kingdom by providing many of the competent authorities with high-resolution satellite images, as it has filmed more than 10 million square kilometers by various satellites in 2015.
