Adel bin Ahmad Al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed that there are strategic and historic relations binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Tunisia, pointing out that consultations and coordination between the two countries are existed. He added that the two countries desire to intensify these efforts for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples. This came in a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Taib Baccouche held in Tunisia yesterday. Al-Jubeir confirmed that the relations between the Kingdom and Tunisia are strong based on mutual respect and a unified strategy regarding confronting extremism and terrorism and a number of issues. Al-Jubeir added that he discussed with the Tunisian foreign minister ways of boosting economic cooperation and economic exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Tunisia. He added that they also discussed importance of finding a political solution regarding the Syrian crisis and ways of dealing with the situation in Iraq and Yemen as well as ways to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Libya in addition to importance of addressing extremism and terrorism and intensifying efforts between the two countries in this field. Regarding the Palestinian cause, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Palestinian cause for the Arab and Islamic countries is still the first case, 'since decades, the Kingdom seeks to urge the international community to find a solution to this cause based on the resolutions of international legitimacy and a solution leading to Palestinian state with its capital in East Al-Quds,' he added. Al-Jubeir stressed that the Kingdom is continuing to urge the international community to use its influence with all friends to reach a fair settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict leading to establishment of Palestinian state, noting that the Kingdom, since beginning of this crisis, stands by the Palestinian people and government financially, politically and morally. Regarding the Islamic Military Alliance to combat terrorism, the foreign minister said: 'the alliance, which included more than 35 countries at the time, is an alliance for all countries. Its aim is to counter terrorism from security, military and intellectual aspects,' Al-Jubeir added. He pointed out that joining the alliance is voluntary and each state should choose what is the kind of support, pointing out that coordination will be among Islamic countries regarding exchanging information, expertise and provision of equipment in the field of security. 'International cooperation is important to eliminate terrorism. The international alliance is very important as the Islamic alliance,' Al-Jubeir added, pointing out that one country cannot fight terrorism. The Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Islamic alliance to fight terrorism also aims to highlight that Islam rejects terrorism, pointing out that Islam calls to fight terrorism. 'We have to reach a comprehensive strategy aiming to combat terrorism security, militarily, intellectually, educationally and financially,' Al-Jubeir said. The foreign minister pointed out the Saudi-Turkish agreement on establishment of high-level strategic cooperation council between the two countries, 'this council aims to enhance coordination in various fields binding the two countries, including fields of security, military, economy, finance, education or others,' he added.
