His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received US Secretary of State John Kerry and members of the delegation accompanying him on a current visit to the UAE. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed Kerry's visit and discussed with him the excellent friendship and co-operation relations between the UAE and the United States. During the meeting, the two parties reviewed spheres of co-operation and strategic partnerships between the two countries and ways of bolstering and promoting them to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples. During the meeting which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, the two parties also discussed the most important regional issues and exchanged their views about them. The crown prince of Abu Dhabi was briefed by the US Secretary of State on the outcome of the recent Vienna talks about the crisis in Syria as well as Washington's contacts with its allies about ideas and solutions to this political, security and humanitarian crisis. The discussions also took in the efforts being made by the global coalition to counter extremism and terrorism. In this regard, the two sides stressed the importance of co-ordination, co-operation and consultation about intensifying efforts to fight terrorist organisations through effective mechanisms that can achieve their goals. The two sides also stressed the importance of continued support for regional efforts, in particular in in Syria, Yemen, Libya and the peace process in the Middle East as well as the international efforts to establish the pillars of security and stability in the region and the world. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ali Mohammad Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Barbara A. Leaf, Ambassador of the United States to the UAE, and a number of officials.
