The United Nations announced the postponement of the Geneva talks on Yemen to be held on 28 May, at the request of the Yemeni government. Ahmad Fawzi, spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Geneva, said in a statement today that Ban Ki-moon is working to hold the talks as soon as possible, and call on all parties in Yemen to engage in these talks in good faith and without preconditions. The statement said that the Secretary General instructed his envoy to Yemen to redouble his consultation efforts with the Yemeni government and the states of the region to reach a ceasefire and the resumption of peaceful dialogue and political transition in Yemen.
