I once said to Martin Indyk, as we were going to tape a program on Al-Jazeera in Doha, that I had a theory about the Jews. Perhaps he thought that I was going to say something anti-Semitic, as he asked me, with hesitation, "What is it?" I said, "A good Jew is the best person in the world, and a bad Jew is the worst person in the world." Israeli and other Jewish peace groups have some of the most active peace advocates in the entire world. Then, there are the worst types of terrorists in the Israeli government and among their supporters in and around the White House, and in the media. I recently read a negative review about a book, and then ordered it. Goliath, by Max Blumenthal, is a total condemnation of Israel even though the writer, as his name indicates, is Jewish. Each of its 73 chapters points to an Israeli outrage or crime against the Palestinians. The chapter titles are taken from famous events in Jewish history, and non-specialized Arab readers will require some explanations to understand them. On the other hand, you have Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire casino owner and supporter of the American right. I recently read that he visited Yeshiva University in New York and suggested that the United States carry out a nuclear strike against Iran. Adelson exposes himself as being both a terrorist and a jackass at the same time, because using nuclear weapons in an American confrontation (on behalf of Israel) with Iran is impossible. He also acknowledges that he is Israeli and not American. The US has no interest in incurring the hostility of 1.5 billion Muslims, compared to six million settlers. Since Adelson is a jackass, his statements usually expose themselves. But the real harm comes from those who have reached the US administration to serve Israel, and I have listed their names time and time again. Today I select Daniel Pipes, one of the advocates for the war on Iraq, and Iran, and Syria, and all of our countries. He is inclined to Israeli extremism and his comments would be funny, if not for the terror of the Netanyahu government and its associated murder, destruction, occupation and displacement. It seems that an important colleague at the Carnegie Center criticized him because he does not criticize Israel, so Pipes rudely replied, "I don't criticize Israeli policy? Give me examples." He said he had criticized the Oslo Accords, i.e. he is an extremist opposed to the peace process. He said that he opposed the "unilateral" withdrawal from Lebanon and from Gaza. What does this Israeli agent want? Does he want the Lebanese and the Gazans to also leave their countries? He said that he criticized "nearly handing the Golan Heights to Syria for a piece of paper." In fact, the Golan is entirely Syrian and Israel is entirely on Palestinian land. Pipes said that he did not want UNRWA to go to the West Bank and Gaza. Does he want UNRWA to help the war criminals in the Israeli government to kill more Palestinian children (1,500 Palestinian minors against 135 Jewish ones since 29 September 2000)? He said that he criticized the release of convicts, including terrorists, who have returned to the Palestinian territories. In fact, every Palestinian wants freedom, and every member of the Israeli government and its terrorist army is a murdering criminal and an enemy of humanity, like Pipes himself. In another article, this extremist says that he fears that Russia will become a Muslim country. He is trying to scare Christians, and all he can come up with is that the average birth rate for Russian Christians is 1.1 children compared to 2.3 for Russian Muslims. Russia has 144 million people and Muslims make up only 15 percent of the population in the highest estimates. The extremist Pipes cannot be frightened; he wants to scare the Russians. Arlene Kushner tried to be even more vulgar than Pipes. She talked about the Jewish people's rights to Israel by citing a report by the Israeli Levy Committee. In other words, she cited someone like herself. I am a student of history and I know that the prophets of the Torah were a lie and no trace of them at all, and certainly their kingdoms, have ever been found in Palestine. But there were certainly Jews. The Haram al-Sharif mosque is the best example of this; it has the Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, while the Jews call it the Temple Mount, without there being any trace of a First or Second Temple. The extremists are a mix of lies and crime, but there are also many Jews who want peace. [email protected]
