Ayoon Wa Azan (As they Migrate, They Carry Their Countries Along)
Published in AL HAYAT on 27 - 10 - 2013

I read an investigation published by the London Times this month under the title, "We sacrifice ourselves to the sea for a better life in Europe." The report tackles the issue of illegal immigrants from Africa to Europe, and those of them who perish before achieving their dream of a better life.
For weeks now, there has been news about Al-Madinah, a free school in the city of Derby. Some governmental inspectors gave the school the lowest possible grades when evaluating its administration and teaching methods. They also wrote about the school's "inadequate" or "improper" work and chaos. Instead of focusing on education, it seems that the school administration has been focusing on veiling the female students and teachers and isolating them from male students. The school has been taking 3,500 sterling pounds per student per year from the state in addition to an extra 700 pounds per student for the students coming from a poor and underprivileged background.
The entire school's administrative and student body is part of first or second generation immigrants. All of these people came to London in search of a better life and in order to improve the future of their children. They brought their countries along in order to stay close to them even as they are in England, knowing that they had escaped from poverty, ignorance, illnesses, and other scourges. God will judge us all and He is merciful and clement. All I say today is that the immigrants have no right to impose their convictions on their host country. Rather, they should educate themselves, learn, and build a better future for their children.
The Times investigation included several figures that caught my attention. For instance, among the illegal immigrants who safely reached Europe, 1537 were women, 2355 were below eighteen years old, and 2034 were children with no accompanying family. They throw their women and children in the path of doom and they expect them to stay confined to the traditions of their countries of origin even as they move to their new host countries.
I will stop here concerning the immigration to Europe. There are several other issues that deserve attention. I have hereby selected a few before they get lost in the flow of news.
- Senator Rand Paul, an anti war activist like his father, the retired member of the House of Representatives Ron Paul, spoke about radical Muslims and violence. He said that the peaceful majority of Muslims must confront terrorism. Hungarian Conductor, Ivan Fischer, composed an opera to fight the rising wave of anti-Semitism in Europe.
These two and thousands of other similar pieces of news have one thing in common: the Israeli cabinet, which is responsible for the killing, destruction, occupation, and displacement of Palestinians, is the sole responsible for the rise of anti-Semitism around the world. The majority of the Jews are mostly moderates who aspire for peace and who are paying the price of the Israeli government's terrorism. Israel is responsible for the terrorism practiced by some aberrant Arabs because Israel was the side that caused it.
- I salute the family of Egyptian Doctor, Mohammad Hilmi, who lived in Berlin during World War II. The man hid a Jewish family in his house thus rescuing it from death at the hands of the Nazis. The family rejected an Israeli honoring probably because it shares my opinion about the Israeli cabinet, which is currently carrying out the same kind of Nazi crimes that the Jews had once suffered from.
- An American pro-Likud website published the following headline: "Today in History: West Saved from Islam at the Battle of Tours" (Poitiers or the Palace of Martyrs).
This is a major myth and a full-fledged lie. I am a history major. My professor, Ihssan Abbas, may God rest his soul, was quite knowledgeable. (...) From what I read, this battle was only mentioned in a passing manner in Arabic history books. The Arab commander of that battle, Abdul Rahman al-Ghafiqi, was killed and Charles Martel won. This was a battle like a thousand other battles; no more, no less.
