Israel, Saudi Arabia… and Human Rights!
Published in AL HAYAT on 24 - 08 - 2009

Whoever ponders over the recent Israeli campaign against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, cannot but stretch his legs against all the "silly" demands, then lie down, laugh for a long time, and mock this "stupid" campaign which the Israeli leaders try to advance against the kingdom, all in order to achieve new political gains.
The fact of the matter is that Israel is filled with thieves and criminals who are too involved in bloodsucking, and who have excelled at lynching and assassinating an entire nation. They also illegally usurped and devoured an entire people's land by force. Yet, their unfunny political jokes still come out, the last of which being the "silly joke" made by the Foreign Minister Lieberman, when he incited the US Congress to discuss the human rights conditions in Saudi Arabia. This comes following the latter's rejection of Israeli demands, to which the Kingdom chose not to respond or take heed. The kingdom also rejected all the pressures it is being subjected to, and which are aimed at forcing Saudi Arabia to normalize its ties with Tel Aviv.
I will not say that Lieberman and his government and people with their fraudulent slogans are wrong, but rather, [I will say that] anyone who believes that Saudi Arabia would retract its firm positions vis-à-vis the Palestinian cause is the one who is wrong, or anyone who believes that Saudi Arabia would deny its Arab and Islamic responsibilities. Rather, Israel should change its "twisted and malignant" characteristics first and foremost. The Arab peace initiative has in fact revealed that Israel is the side that is obstructing and hampering any international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and just peace solution in the region. Moreover, its practices have become exposed to the international community. It is also trying to divert the attention away from the main cause, by fabricating new subjects and positions against the countries that stand in the face of its policies, intentions, lies and media fabrications.
This was demonstrated by Lieberman's recent statement when he said that "before the international community raises its demands to Israel, it should solve other problems in the world other than the problem of the Middle East." This is a sign that Israel is evading the core of the problem and the peace process, which is evidence that all what Israel says about peace does not go beyond procrastination and free propaganda.
Isn't Israel the last country in the world that should talk about human rights, when this country has become synonymous with occupation, murder, tyranny, and oppression?! Isn't this entity the godfather of massacres and carnages against humanity, which have become countless over 60 years, and since the occupation of Palestine?!
Has the Israeli Foreign Minister Lieberman forgotten the carnages and massacres that his people and soldiers perpetrated in Palestine and Lebanon against the elderly, women, and children, including and not limited to the massacres of Al-Sheikh Town, Deir Yasine (1948), Khan Younes (1956), Sabra and Shatila (1982), the massacre of the Ibrahimi Mosque (1994), Janin massacre (2002), the second Qana massacre (2006), with the latest of these horrible massacres being what had taken place during the war on Gaza in 2009?
Does the country that carries out random killing, destroys villages and kills its entire population then erases it off the map, uses internationally banned weapons against innocents, carries out arbitrary detentions and torture, and prevents patients from accessing treatment and medical; does this country therefore know the meaning of humanity at all, its rights and principles? Does it even care about international conventions?
Does the country that deals in a racist manner with the Palestinians who hold the Israeli citizenship (the Arabs of 1948), and that destroys Arab homes in the Galilee, the Triangle and in Al-Naqab over the heads of its people at night, realize the meaning of human rights?
Israel realizes that it is lying, and that it has lied and is still lying, to the extent that it now heads the list of international liars. The entire world has discovered its criminal plans and conspiracies. But a part of this world is still flattering Israel by remaining silent, in line with some US positions.
As for Saudi Arabia, its political record is clear. It has shouldered the responsibility with courage, and headed to Beirut's Arab Summit in 2002 with a peace initiative that has clear content and articles. All the Arabs agreed on this initiative, out of their desire to achieve a clear-cut peace. Since that time, the initiative has been on the table for the Israelis, but they continue to procrastinate and lie and keep away from the spirit of the initiative and its peaceful horizon, inasmuch as the international community tries to make it close to them to accept it, all in order to achieve lasting peace in the region.
What we have mentioned above does not mean that there are no comments on Saudi Arabia, and that there is no criticism of its conduct when it comes to human rights. However, Saudi Arabia works according to a reformative timetable to improve these rights and certainly, its record and history in this regard is a million times clearer and cleaner than the Israeli criminal record.
We know that there is a global problem when the murderers and butchers use the card of human rights within the cards of political compromises and blackmail in an attempt to manipulate this issue and achieve political goals that are consistent with their intentions and political tendencies. Otherwise, how could a country like Israel, which has the worst humanitarian records, criticize other countries' conduct in the field of human rights? How can it do so seeing that Israel perpetrated atrocious crimes against children, women, and elders, and destroyed mosques over the heads of worshippers, and hospitals over the heads of patients, and schools over the heads of students, without any consideration for humanitarian issues? Ironically, Israel then comes to speak about humans and their rights.
Indeed, it is a real catastrophe plaguing humans when Israel speaks about their rights and affairs.
